There has been a major shift in the world towards green living, and almost every aspect of life has been affected, including automobiles. Electric cars are a great investment for people who want to use more renewable sources of energy.

Before you buy an electric car, you are going to have to sell your old vehicle. If you are asking, “Can I value my car online?,” the answer is yes — you can determine how much your car is worth and what a good listing price would be. Once you’ve sold your old car, you’re ready to be an electric car owner.

The following is a list of the most popular electric car models for 2011.

  • Chevrolet Volt: This electric car is also a hybrid. It goes 25 to 50 miles in electric mode and then switches to gas for another 300. It has a top speed of 100 mph.
  • Nissan Leaf: This car will only be available in the test markets at first (California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Tennessee). It has a top speed of 110 mph.
  • Ford Focus EV: This electric car will run on lithium-ion batteries and be able to go 100 miles before needing a charge.
  • Coda Sedan: This four-door car can go 90 to 120 miles before needing a charge. It has quite a bit of power, but a max speed of 80 mph.

When you use the Internet, you have access to instant used car prices. This will help you decide how much to ask for your old car so that you can own a more energy-efficient model. Electric cars will be popular in the future because of how “green” they are, so invest in one in 2011.

Owning electric cars can be fun. These cars are often less powerful than gas-powered vehicles, but there are key reasons why you should be investing in these cars over gas guzzlers. For those looking for a way to do something for the environment, this could be the right way to go.

Key Benefits of Electric Vehicles

How can electric vehicles add to your life? It can be surprising what a difference these vehicles can make in your day-to-day life over other options.

  • These vehicles are more affordable to operate. In fact, car insurance may be less, depending on the value of the car. They are less expensive because of their fuel savings, too.
  • These vehicles are more reliable. With fewer moving parts, the vehicle is less likely to break down on you. It also does not need transmission fluid or engine oil, either.
  • These cars run quieter. Because they do not use combustion power, they run far quieter, which reduces noise pollution in your area.
  • These vehicles have less of a reliance on fossil fuels. Because they are not reliant on gas or oils, this boosts the environmental effect. More so, these vehicles make Americans less dependent on foreign suppliers of oil.
  • You can charge them overnight for all day use. Most are not limiting in their drive time.

Electric cars can be an excellent investment. It is up to you to choose the vehicle that can fill your particular needs. However, these key advantages make electric cars the vehicles of the future.

Electric cars have made a large debut into the going green movement. The idea that global health should be a top priority has spurred growth electrically. Additionally buying an electric car should theoretically save the driver money due to the advertised overall savings in gas.

Many countries have gone all in on the green revolution. Airports in the United States have started to install charging stations in the extended stay parking areas, and other countries are beginning to develop research funding for the development of electric batteries and other research targeted at electric cars.

Part of what makes electric vehicles so popular among those who have gone green is the reduction in pollution. The dramatic reduction in fuel emissions could mean improvement on global warming.

Only recently has finding electric vehicles gone from the difficult task for the elite to something where everyone can find cars for sale. Most dealerships will have new cars, and because of their rise in popularity finding quality used electric cars is also possible. So, next time you are shopping for a used car consider the electric option. Looking for used Ford for sale could turn into a greener you!

Critics have argued that global warming is a flawed idea due to the stay in local climate temperatures. However it is more important to view it as a global idea. Global warming is not a temperature rise in a focused area. Instead, it is a temperature rise across the entire planet. For anyone who has ever lived with roommates the difference in one degree could mean the difference between comfortable and freezing.

Electric Cars may have the “Power”

Toyota Prius III
Image via Wikipedia

In the last decade, hybrid cars have become all the rage. They’re efficient, inexpensive to drive, and environmentally friendly, giving texas electricity providers and all the other ones something to think about. Opponents of hybrids cite their lack of power as their most notable drawback and, by and large, they are correct. The price paid for that efficiency comes out of their horsepower and speed. On the surface, this seems to be due to the car running less on a controlled explosion and more on an electric current. That reasoning could lead the average person to believe that as cars become more electric, power will only go down.

However, there is absolutely no reason why a car utilizing electric power should be slower or weaker. The low power is to maintain fuel efficiency and battery life, since more power necessarily requires, well, more power, which can cut down on how far a car can drive before it needs refueling or recharging. But pure electric cars, the ultimate goal of green transportation, could be just as powerful as older, gasoline-using automobiles.

Several such cars are in development or production already, through companies such as Toyota, Peugeot, and GM. One company, Tesla Motors, is marketing their Tesla Roadster as an electric supercar. While perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, the Roadster is very much a sports car. It has legions of optional features and it performs very well. The Roadster, on electricity alone, boasts 288 horsepower, a 0-60 time of less than four seconds, and a top speed of nearly 130 mph. Nor does it suffer as much from range problems. Most electric cars can go less than two hundred miles before needing to recharge, a process that can take several hours. The Roadster can travel two hundred and fifty before needing a recharge, and can plug into a wall outlet. It may be a little pricey at just over $100,000, but it never requires you to buy gasoline, so over time that price is somewhat mitigated. If the Roadster is an example of the future of cars, than even the staunchest opponents of electric vehicles may have very little to complain about.

Are Electric Cars a viable option for regular consumers?

With gas prices approaching record highs many consumers are rethinking their vehicles of choice, and considering Electric Cars as viable daily driving options.

While Electric Cars are still more expensive that gas driven vehicles, the technology is catching up to the everyday consumers pocketbook, and there are many advantages to owning one of these vehicles.

•    Cheaper in the long run: An Electric Car might cost more to drive off the lot, but that benefit of not putting $200 per month in gas into the car adds up quickly. Because electric Cars don’t have as many moving parts they don’t need oil, and other fluids. The maintenance and upkeep on these vehicles is significantly reduced because no moving parts means the parts that are there don’t wear out as quickly.

•    Protection for the environment: Seems like everyone has something to say about the environment and the pollutants that humans carelessly emit. Electric Cars emit no pollutants from the exhaust, and the overall emissions are significantly less than a gas-powered vehicle. If people really cared about going green they would hop, skip and jump their way to the nearest dealership.

•    Practical and efficient: Most of us use our vehicles to transport to work, kid’s events and the grocery store. The majority of these trips are less than 10 miles per excursion, fitting nicely with the electrical capabilities of the Electric Car. These vehicles are extremely quiet, and non-disruptive to your community at any hour of the day or night.

While electric cars might not be practical for everyone, they are getting better, more affordable and a great option for consumers.

Is a CNG Vehicle in Your Future?

Symbol used for vehicles powered by compressed...

Image via Wikipedia

With gas prices creeping up and over the $4 per gallon mark, drivers are taking a hard look at energy efficient vehicles, such as the Toyota Prius, the Chevy Volt, and the Nissan Leaf, which offer fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and lower fuel costs.  Yet one of the best buys is the Honda Civic GX which is fueled by compressed natural gas.  Like its Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf cousins, the Civic GX has fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and low fuel costs (under $1 per gallon.)

By the far the most attractive feature of Civic GX is its $25,000 purchase price.  Couple  that with a $4000 federal tax credit and you’ve found the greatest little bargain that no one has ever heard of.  If that isn’t enough to get your interest, some states also offer incentives for the purchase of CNG (compressed natural gas vehicles).  While Honda maybe a head of the game in North American, Chevrolet already has plans for launching its own CNG vehicle in 2017.  Ford and other auto manufacturers also have CNG vehicles in the works.

Advantages

One of the major advantages of the CNG vehicles, is that we have an abundant supply of natural gas in North America.  Switching from petroleum based fuel to natural gas, reduces our dependency on fossil fuels from foreign sources.  Natural gas burns cleaner, thus releasing fewer emissions into the environment.

Disadvantages

The primary disadvantage is the lack of fueling stations. Although this is changing rapidly, be sure to check out the availability of fueling stations in your area before purchasing a CNG vehicle.

Telsa $30,000 Electric Car by 2015

Many are questioning if Telsa can deliver on their promise to produce a $30,000 electric car by 2015.  Due to the average time that it takes for a car to go from design concept to complete production and into the driveways of consumers, there are some skeptics out there that wonder if this goal can really come to pass.

If anyone can do it, Telsa can.  Just looking at the accomplishments that they have made already.  They have a luxury Roadster for $110,000 and now they are going into production for the Model S which is $50,000 or so. The Model S is still luxurious and hasn’t lost any of the quality of the original product. It is conceivable that Telsa very well could fulfill their promise.

In addition to the Roadster and the Model S, there is an SUV in the making as well. The Model X will be one of the vehicles that will be released in the next four years. Elon Musk, the CEO promises that the Model X will be cooler then anything like it on the market. The Model S is a Sedan that can seat 7, it will be interesting to see what the Model X is like.

As technology continues to move forward, we will see more advances in the area of more affordable energy. Just think of the amount of money that will be saved by not needing as many repairs on your car, not needing to pay high gas prices, and even the possibility of creating your own solar powered carport and driving for virtually free.

Telsa’s Model S Electric Car

In 2012 production will begin on Telsa’s Model S electric car.  The first thing that is very noticeable about this car is the fact that it is very stylish and has fantastic features, like GPS.  Many electric car makers have sacrificed style and other options to try to focus on just the car being electric, Tulsa has done neither.

The model S is able to seat 7.  Looking at the car, it is hard to see that, but when viewing the images on their site you can see that there is indeed enough room for five adults and two children.  The Model S can be reserved now and comes in the colors of white, thunder gray and red. The interior style is just beautiful. There are three different battery pack options available. They are:

  • 160 Mile range
  • 230 mile range
  • 300 mile range

The Model S has been engineered to plug in anywhere, and the batteries can charge in as little as forty-five minutes. Unlike the all-electric cars of the past this model’s top speed is 120 miles per hour. And in only 5.6 seconds you can go from zero to Sixty miles an hour. It also includes a 17 inch tough screen with 3G technology.  It has fantastic aerodynamics and is a stunning vehicle.

2012 will prove to be a great year for electric cars if this model is an indication of what the future holds.  While the price is still at the level of a luxury car, it definitely is worth every penny.  The average cost to run this car is under $300 a year.

Usage of electric Bikes

It can save a lot of money on gas and car expenses if you do not have to go all that far to get to work or school. Comparing to e-bike motorcycles is more expensive in maintenance and running cost. The electric bike body will be very slim and in the place of fuel tank there will be electrically chargeable battery. The battery can be charged on each 40 kilometers running, the distance depends upon the battery capacity, and we can charge the battery by connecting it to the plug point in home.

Ladies, children and old people can easily use this electric bike for traveling to short distance, ladies can use this daily for going to college and for office. The battery can be charged using solar energy but the equipment costs much more for that charging, the solar cell and connector too will cost more. But in future the electric bikes will be using the solar energy for charging when we lack in producing electricity.

The electric bike will have a Motor connected to battery the charge from battery moves to the motor and with it the motor will start revolving the bike wheels. As a result it will be coupled with the motor so it will also start rotating with the motor. The noise less pleasant travel is the main advantage in using this kind of electric vehicles.

In future for power and efficiency we use hybrid bikes, in which we use fuel like petrol for starting and electric charge for running so that we can drive faster than the simple electric bike, people give good response for that hybrid bikes also.
The advantages of electric bike are Noise free, smoke free and efficient. The disadvantages of electric bikes are It can be used for short distance, It runs in limited speed only.
